The California Writers Club is the nation's oldest professional club for writers, founded in 1909 by Jack London, the poet George Sterling and short story writer Herman Whitaker, among others. Today it’s a nonprofit education corporation with seventeen branches in California, that among other things, offers its 1100+ members a group policy for health insurance. Branches hold regular meetings with educational speakers and opportunities to network. Molly Dwyer is looking to start a branch of the California Writers Club on the Mendocino coast. This means getting a core group of at least eight writers together and meeting, taking minutes and setting up the club’s structure over a six-month period, and then applying to the central governing body for official branch status. Both published and non-published writers are welcome. If you’d like more information or are interested in getting involved, please contact molly at molly@mollydwyer.com.
